In Playa DoradaHotel Paradise Beach Resort & Casino of the chain Amhsa Marina Hotels & Resorts, located in the Playa Dorada resort, Puerto Plata, will resume its operations in December after a renovation process in all its facilities.
Grand Paradise Playa Dorada is the new name that will identify the old Paradise Beach Resort & Casino.
The information was released by the vice president of sales & marketing Amhsa Marina Hotels & Resorts, Antonio Herrera, who said to carry out the renovation, the hotel closed its doors to the public on May 6.
Herrera noted that the reshuffle includes the construction of balconies in the rooms that hadn’t previously had one, new furniture and decor, mini flat screen televisions for greater comfort of the guests in the 425 rooms, and remodeled lobby, casino, disco and restaurants.

To reactivate the visit of the linersPuerto Plata. - The deputy Alfonso Crisóstomo announced tender to the National Congress of five initiatives, among them a bill of cruise ship tourism stimulation, to reactivate the visit of the liners to the local port and to again have the benefits which were obtained in the last decades of the last century.
The legislator pointed out that the cruise ship tourists had boosted the local economy, at the point where they constituted the first source of receipts during years 70-90, but that the situation had been deteriorated at such a point that for more than 15 years, the local port is no more visited by liners.
After a period during which five weekly liners arrived to Puerto Plata, the last one left in 1991 and with it, it was the end of the visit of thousands of tourists who went downtown and left benefit to the « puertoplateños ».
Crisóstomo, who is currently secretary of the Lower House, explained that with the plans to rehabilitate the port, he awaits the collaboration of his colleagues to approve a bill which during ten years would exempt of taxes payment the tourists who would arrive by sea route.
Among the other projects that Crisóstomo wishes to subject during the present legislature, there is a resolution which grants a recognition of the Congress to the Brugal Foundation, for its contribution to the country with the prices « Brugal Believes in its People », granted every year since 1992 to non-profit-making organizations.
The deputy also has on standby another draft Resolution which requests to the President of the Republic the transfer of the inhabitants of the Camú River sides, in Montellano, because they live in imminent danger due to the constant floods caused by the avenues during the periods of intense rains.
In the same way, he has the project of changing the status of Cabarete into commune (currently, it is a municipal sector pertaining to Sosúa) and he would like to propose another motion for the construction, in 2009, of a inter-municipal hospital in Sosúa.

Authorities of the province and municipalities will be invitedPUERTO PLATA. - The Administrative Secretary of the Presidency, Manual Luís Bonnetti, will direct the Provincial Council of Development which will take place tomorrow Wednesday, at the Government Palace of Puerto Plata.
This information was given by the provincial Governor Eridania Llibre, representative of President Leonel Fernández at the local level.
The representative of the Commission of Provincial Support, Engineer Luís Silfred and the secretary of State, Rafael Pérez Modesto will also attend the Council.
Eridania Llibre declared that authorities of the province and municipalities will be invited to this Provincial Council of Development as well as the representatives of the work tables and also other sectors of the society of Puerto Plata. The civil servant informed that the speakers will submit to the commission the needs and the priorities of each Community they represent, to include them in the 2009 Budget.
It was announced that at the end of this activity, Luís Manuel Bonnetti will deliver in a symbolic manner to Rafael Pérez Modesto the key of the house where the general Gregorio Luperón died and where a museum will be built soon.
Llibre is very optimistic and hopes that each Community chooses and present through its representatives its most urgent and priority needs without falling into excess, by taking into account the world economic crisis.
