Red alert for the Puerto Plata province
Preventive evacuations started
The Emergencies Operations Center (COE) started this Tuesday preventives evacuations in the north zone of the country and issued a red alert for three provincies: Dajabon, Montecristi and Puerto Plata, and yellow alert for Espaillat, Sanchez Ramirez, Santiago, Monte Plata, Santo Domingo, Duarte, Samana, La Vega andy Monseñor Nouel.
Green alert has been issued for San Pedro de Macorís, El Seibo, La Altagracia, Hato Mayor and Salcedo.
According to the National Meteorological Office
(ONAMET), the alert of flooding and mudslide is due to a strong weather system associated to hurricane Hanna which will continue affecting the country´s north and northeast.

The Tourism Ministry will support the development of Puerto Plata
Meeting with contractors of Sosua and Cabarete
Playa Dorada, Puerto Plata. - The secretary of Tourism, Francisco Javier García, participated to a meeting with the members of the Association of the Hotels, Condominiums and Commercial Establishments of Playa Dorada, during which he reaffirmed his decision to follow-up the development and infrastructures plans which are carried out in this important tourist pole of the Northern area.
On his side, the president of the Association of the Hotels, Condominiums and Commercial Establishments of Playa Dorada, Robertro Cassoni, underlined the attitude of the minister to work with the private sector in order to reinforce the tourism industry. In the same way, Cassoni spoke in praise of personal and professional qualities of Javier García which will be useful to conclude the process of growth and consolidation of the Dominican tourist sector.
Course through tourist zones and attractions of Puerto Plata
After the meeting with the company managers, the Secretary of Tourism carried out a course through the principal attractions of this province, in company of civil servants, contractors and press representatives.
The civil servant underlined the extraordinary task carried out during the management of his predecessor within Sectur, Felix Jimenez.
The official committee who accompanied the Javier García was composed by the secretary of Commerce and Industry, Jose Ramón Fadul; the under-secretary of Tourism for the Northern Area and national assistant of the Secretary, César José de los Santos; Luis Paradís, under-secretary of Tourism for the North-Western zone and José Gabriel Rodríguez, assistant of Sectur.

Tourist contractors will invest 2 billion dollars
In Cabarete
CABARETE, Puerto Plata. - The tourist sector employers of Cabarete announced the investment of more than 2 billion dollars during the five next years, to continue boosting this country zone.
This information was given by the Tourism Minister Francisco Javier García, at the time of a journey carried out through this zone.
He met with local contractors belonging to the real estate project Punta Goleta, where several subjects in regards with the tourist skills of the Community are developed.
The contractors began to committ themselves fighting to maintain Cabarete as « a Mecque » of kiteboarding.
The minister Javier García declared to the contractors present at this meeting his enthusiasm regarding the growth of Cabarete
and affirmed to aim for that this place is transformed into a tourist example for the rest of the country
.
Oskar Arocha, Commercial vice-president of Punta Goleta, took this opportunity to thank the new Tourism Secretary for this first official visit and his will to contribute to the progress and the wellbeing of Cabarete, as a tourist destination.

Puerto Plata citizens go to economical restaurant
They can eat for only RD $5.00
Ana Delia Acosta Almonte, in charge of the economical restaurant of Puerto Plata, informed that a total of 630 citizens come everyday there, paying only 5 pesos, which is the price of the food plate.
She added that in the country, 22 economical restaurants offer this service to the citizens in general.
The president Leonel Fernández shows much interest in trying to help those who can buy food everyday,
declared Acosta Almonte to the Puerto Plata Digital journalists.
She added that she was doing a good job, considering that the persons who receive the benefits of the restaurant were satisfied of the treatment they received.

Hotel Ríu: Good frequentation in spite of the atmospheric phenomena

MAIMÓN, Puerto Plata. - The director of Riú Bachata Hotel of the Riú chain in Maimón Puerto Plata said that this hotel maintains a good flow of foreign and local tourists.
Francisco Rodriguez ensured that this favorable situation persists although during the last weeks, the Dominican Republic was affected by several natural phenomena. Rodriguez revealed that the international Tour operators and the national travel agencies continue to recommend this comfortable hotel chain to the tourists.
The director of Riú Bachata expressed his confidence towards the new Secretary of Tourism, Francisco Javier García, who will work better or in an equal manner than his predecessor, Felix Jiménez (Felucho)

The director of Ríu Bachata expressed that the country must continue to seek new markets so that tourism continues to grow as that it was the case during the last years.
Moreover, he stressed that tourist security was improved in such way that we do not talk anymore about aggressions on foreigners on the Northern Coast.

President will continue to stimulate the tourist development of Puerto Plata
According to César José de los Santos
President Leonel Fernández will continue to stimulate the integral development of the province of Puerto Plata, and « the plans and projects » will not stop, ensured the under-secretary of Tourism, César José de los Santos, former civil governor of the province.
The actions not terminated will follow their rhythm, because the Head of the State wishes to guarantee sustainable development and integral area, while taking tourism as spearhead
declared the under-secretary of Tourism.
César José de los Santos, who was interviewed in the « Perspectivas » program, declared that the investment of the President was significant, that million pesos were invested and that people can see the changes realized in Puerto Plata.
Now, works such the construction of the four-lane road Puerto-Plata-Navarrete, the widening of the medical system of Sosúa and Cabarete and the termination of work of the medical system of Puerto Plata are in hand.
Moreover, the government, in its immediate plans, and according to the announcement made at the National Assembly, plans the construction of the tourist road which will links all the coast, from Montecristi, La Ensenada, Punta Rusia, Villa Isabela, La Isabela, Luperón, Cambiaso, Guzmán, Guzmancito and which will arrive to Maimón.
The under-secretary of Tourism added that the most important was the effort and the wish of the President and that the authorities of this area are taking part in an integral way in these projects.
César José de los Santos also thanks the effort made by the Tourism Minister Francisco Javier García, who at the time of his last visit in Puerto Plata, affirmed that he will continue the excellent management carried out by Felix Jiménez

The Consul of Austria will visit Puerto Plata
To strengthen tourism
The general consulate of Austria in Santo Domingo invited all the Austrian citizens and their families residing in the Northern Area of the country, to the meeting of information on the consular businesses, in the golf Club of Playa Dorada, in Puerto Plata.
A press release of the general consulate of Austria in Dominican Republic indicates that this activity is programmed for this Friday September 26 as from nine o’clok in the sector of the golf course of Playa Dorada.
The general consul of Austria, Karin Ostreicher, will direct this social activity jointly with consular civil servants in order to offer any type of services like assistance to the Community living in the Northern zone.
They will offer services such as renovation of the Austrian passport, certificates of citizenship, legalization of documents, visas of tourism with invitation, legal and extra judicial assistance, general information.
Various personalities of the province of Puerto Plata are invited to this interesting event. The consular civil servant said that this meeting would allow to unify the bonds of the Austrian colony.
Desserts and typical drinks of Austria will be porposed for this occasion.

“We have to take care of the tourism in the Northern zone”
More efficient services
The former secretary of Tourism, Félix Jiménez, affirmed that the government of the president Leonel Fernández will continue to promote the tourist development of the Northern zone, and he encouraged the private sector to improve the installations in order to make the services even more efficient.
Jiménez said that for this reason, every inhabitant of Puerto Plata and of all the North area of Dominican Republic has to take care of tourism and strengthen it, because it represents the activity that generates more currencies, as well as the employment creation for thousands of people.
By evaluating the tourist situation of the Dominican Republic, the former secretary said that we were in a really good position in the world scene, in the Caribbean region and that the Dominican Republic was one of the main destinations, for its beauty, its wonderful people, the efficiency in what concerns the services and the climate; said Jiménez.
What is interesting about the dollars tax that is collected when each tourist enters the country is that it allows using 8 dollars for the tourist infrastructures programs, and 2 for the international promotion.
The results are here, we can see dynamism in tourism, with a promotion on the main tourist markets in the world.
We are confident in the fact that the Tourism Minister, Francisco Javier García, will continue to develop and strengthen this sector.
