BREAKING NEWS: ESTERO HONDO. - The beauty which is surrounding this community is unique in the whole country, this meaning that tourism continues to have new resources to make discover to the foreign visitors.

Traveling to this commune of the municipality of Villa Isabela means making contact with beauty out of the common run, because coconuts, lagoons, rivers, forests and beaches form splendid places, true havens of peace for the national and foreign tourists.

In the park « Los Manaties » (manatees), marine sanctuary, manatees and various species of flora and fauna can be observed.

However, contractors of the area of the Cibao, especially of Santiago, Moca and La Vega have projects directed towards Estero Hondo, with the idea to make investments in the tourism field, according to information revealed by residents of the community.

BREAKING NEWS: PUERTO PLATA. - The secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources and the Public prosecutor of this portfolio, will dislodge in the coming days people who occupy in an illegal way some lands inside the tourist area of Costambar.

The prosecutor of the Environment in Puerto Plata, Jesús María Suero, declared that they were coordinating an operation to dislodge the illegal occupants of these lands located between the tourist complexes of Costambar and of Cofresí.

The magistrate indicated that everybody is occupying a land in an illegal way in Costambar would be arrested and would be brought before the Court.

Sero explained that the operation would also consist of the closing of several stations of liquefied petrol gas, these last working without the authorizations of the corresponding organizations, including that of the secretariat of the Environment and Natural Resources secretariat.

BREAKING NEWS: PUERTO PLATA. – The average occupation of the hotels of the tourist complex of Playa Dorada is around 80 percent in the first month of the peak of the winter season which began at the end of December, informed the executive director of the Association of the Hotels, Condominiums and Commercial Establishments of this hotel enclave.

Engineer Manuel Finke expressed that this occupation represented a reduction of 10 percent compared to January, during the winter tourist season of year 2008, which was of 87.8 percent. He said that normally in February, the occupation rate is growing up to 80 percent, because it is always during the second month of the peak season that the tourist flow is increasing.

He recalled that the hotel occupation of this tourist complex in February 2008 was of 91.3 percent, this is why it is hoped that the flow of customers of Playa Dorada will be higher than in January.

Engineer Finke declared that the majority of the tourists who chose Playa Dorada for their holidays come from Canada and in a smaller proportion from the United States and other European destinations.
