Creole cooking contest in Puerto PlataA big success

BREAKING NEWS: The under-secretary of tourism for the northern coast, Mr Cesar Jose de los Santos, congratulated the organizers of the cooking contest of Puerto Plata for their efforts and thanked them for having brought to the Northern coast a gastronomical festival of quality.

According to Los Santos, the event overflowed of ingeniousness, creativity and imagination, elements which made it possible to create delicious dishes, quickly tasted by the present people.

The activity took place on Saturday evening in the Puerto Plata Village Hotel of Playa Dorada.

The department of events of the Ministry of Tourism, directed by Altagracia Fernández, was in charge of the organization.

De Los Santos thanked the commercial institutions which gave their support for the event, which according to him has a great importance in the field of the Dominican gastronomy.

The funds recovered thanks to the sale of the tickets will be intended to the students of the tourism career of the Regional University Center of Atlantic » (CURA-UASD).

The Ministry of Tourism gives 154 million pesos to the mayors of Puerto PlataFor the asphalting of roads and ways

BREAKING NEWS: Puerto Plata. - The Minister of Tourism, Fransisco Javier García, will give next Friday 154 million pesos to the town halls of Puerto Plata, Sosúa and Cabarete, to carry out immense operations of asphalting of the roads and ways of the sectors of these communities.

The Mayor of Sosúa, Vladimir Céspedes, declared that the chief of tourism had committed with the mayor of Puerto Plata, Walter Musa, with the director of the assembly of the district of Cabarete, Eddy Morfe and with him to give to them this money for the realization of asphalting.

Céspedes announced that the sectors which will benefit from this measures are Sosúa Abajo, El Batey, Los Castillos, Villa Anna María, La Ciénega, La Colonia and the main street of Cabarete.

49 million pesos will be given to Walter Musa, 50 million to Eddy Morfe and 55 million for Sosúa.

Air Europa inaugurates the new air route Madrid-Puerto Plata

BREAKING NEWS: International Airport Gregorio Luperón, Puerto Plata. - Air Europa inaugurated its new air route Madrid - Puerto Plata, from the International Airport Gregorio Luperón, in Puerto Plata, which shows its vision of development in Dominican Republic.

Air Europa proposes, from June 16, flights every Tuesday from the International airport of Barajas, Madrid, to the International Airport Gegorio Luperón of Puerto Plata, on board of Airbus 330-200 aircrafts.

As spokesman of the Dominican Airports of Century XXI (Aerodom), the Director of the International Airport Gregorio Luperón, Ted Foster, explained that Puerto Plata entered a new era of Spanish tourism.

This new route will not only make it possible to bring closer to the country the Dominicans living in Spain, but also the great number of Spaniards who did not discover the superb Dominican Republic yet.

Today, with the support of Air Europa, Aerodom materializes its commitment to widen its offers from the International Airport Gregorio Luperón and to continue to work hand in the hand with the Ministry of Tourism and the Association of Hotels and Restaurants of the North zone, for the development of this important tourist area, Foster ensured.

Currently, Air Europa maintains a frequency of seven flights per week from Santo Domingo, via Las Américas International Airport (AILA), to the International Airport of Barajas, in Madrid and five flights weekly via the Airport of Punta Cana.

From July, there will be a total of 16 flights per week from Puerto Plata and Samaná .
