The Ministry of Tourism will conduct a symposium in Puerto Plata

Tourism and Landscape Architecture Urban La Puntilla

BREAKING NEWS: The Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier García Fernández, will chair the opening ceremony of the International Contest of Architecture and Urban Landscape of La Puntilla, Puerto Plata.

The event will run from October 9th to 11th in the North Central Regional Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD ).

She also explained that the event will include exhibits of projects, debates and conferences masterly directed by national and international exhibitors.

Projects will be evaluated and rewarded by a jury composed of prestigious professionals in the field, such as the architect Luis Falcón, Spain, Emilio Martinez, Puerto Rico, the geographer Rafael Emilio Yunén; architect Jorge Carlos and landscape Rosangela Bobea.

This is a unique event in the country, led by Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier García Fernández, marking a new era in the field of tourism planning in the Dominican Republic, she said.

BREAKING NEWS: The Ministry of Tourism has boosted the tourism industry of the region north of the Dominican Republic with the completion of the International Contest of Architecture and Urban Landscape of Puntilla , which seeks to restore value to the historical center and the city.

Maribel Villalona, Director of Department of Planification and Projects (DPP) of Sectur explained that the objective of the competition was to choose the best architectural design to give Puerto Plata.

She informed that the completion of this competition, during which more than 60 proposals from professionals and students of architecture, was made under the Reorganization Plan of Puerto Plata 2015.

The first prize was won by the proposal entitled Sun and Shadow, architects Ysel Jacquez, Beatriz Pineda Aleshiang Ben, Ben Vencian; Adolph Gotschalk; Luz Marte, gráfica; Ian de Lemos, and Paloma Arias gráfico.

This proposal will be implemented with funding from the Ministry of Tourism and the private sector, said García Fernández.

The winners will oversee the work.

This contest is part of the need to give Puerto Plata an offer to a complementary synergy that generates sufficient for a transformation takes place, he added.

Puerto Plata has all the conditions to generate a powerful urban tourism cruise ships from the coast, its historic centre, its topography, its climate and its people.
