BREAKING NEWS: Under the auspice of the Ministry of Tourism and Public Works, the council of the municipality resumed an extensive program of paving in this city.

The liquidator Walter Musa, told through the general secretary of the council, Edison Garcia, work began with the laying of the asphalt layer to complete the road asphalting in the area of Los Reyes in Torre Alta.

The paving program that runs in Puerto Plata was begun almost from the beginning of the current management of the Trustee Walter Musa, who has been paving various local sectors for over three years.

The operation of asphalt has included the center of Puerto Plata, the Miramar widening, Los Guandules, The Zone, La Estancia, Torre Alta, urbanization Don Armando, Los Reyes, Eduardo Brito sector, avenues and President Antonio Imbert Barrera Caamaño (old Columbus).

Also, South Hill, Los Felices, Padre Las Casa, Los Domínguez, El Barrio Invi, CONANI, Dubocq widening, La Viara, Gregorio Luperón urbanization, Padre Granero, CONANI, the street leading to the cable car and other sectors of the bride of the Atlantic.

BREAKING NEWS: Undersecretary of State for Tourism, Cesar Jose de los Santos, announced that this year the Ministry of Tourism will strengthen the attractiveness of the Independence Square with a series of important musical and cultural events to encourage tourists to visit the city of Puerto Plata.

De los Santos said that these events will be held with the aim that every week this year have provided activities that keep this destination well positioned at the level of international and domestic tourism markets.

BREAKING NEWS: Puerto Plata .- Executives of the Royal Caribbean cruise line will visit the city of Puerto Plata on Wednesday for a meeting with key government officials and businessmen with the aim of increasing tourist activity this company.

The information was offered by Mr. José Francisco Peña Guaba, executive director of the Port Authority (APORDOM) during a meeting held at Hotel Celuisma Tropical Playa Dorada, with businessmen and local authorities.

The Sustainable Tourism project in Puerto Plata is reviewed

BREAKING NEWS: Puerto Plata.- The Joint Coordination Committee (CCC) working in the implementation of the Sustainable Tourism Project in Puerto Plata, met Friday to review the activities to be implemented over the next four years, to run the schedule established for the development of sustainable tourism destination in the country’s north coast.

The institutions that participated in the meeting are the International Cooperation of the Secretary of State for Economic Planning and Development, the Ministry of Tourism (SECTUR), the National Institute of Technical and Professional Training (INFOTEP) and the International Cooperation Agency Japan (JICA).

This meeting is a follow-up of the cooperation agreement signed last year by these institutions, with duration of four years and with input from US3.0 million through JICA.

The project aims to establish a system of development based on public-private partnerships in order to benefit local communities through the development of tourism products and services using local resources.

The project is called Sustainable Tourism through Public-Private participation and seeks to positively impact the province of Puerto Plata, a tourist having a radius of action in the municipalities of Puerto Plata, Altamira, Guananico, Imbert the nobles, Luperon, Sosua, Villa Isabela and Montellano, covering more than 312 thousand 700 people living in that area of the country.

Due to the geographical area where this project will be implemented, the Secretary of Tourism for the North Region, Cesar Jose de los Santos, will serve as executive director. While the Tourism minister Francisco Javier Garcia and executive director of Infotep, Josefina Pimentel, are executive directors. This project has the endorsement of the nine trustees of the communities of Puerto Plata, which signed a letter of intent to support the project.

Likewise, the director of JICA Mr. Tadashi Ikeshiro, express motivation and urge to join forces to boost tourism development in Puerto Plata and combat the decline since the mid-90s.

The goal of this project is to make the local population in and around tourist development zones have more opportunities to participate in tourism activities, in collaboration with the tourism industry, thereby promoting the improvement of living standards of the population and therefore, sustainable and appropriate development of local tourism.
